Clarification

Sep. 16th, 2006 | 05:02 pm

I haven't really used lj in quite a while because I'm not really into writing about my life. However, after the past few days, I feel the need to clarify some rumors that have been circulating.
It has come to my attention that Bruce has told a few people that he "got rid" of me and that is why I am not working at CAP anymore. Bruce and I have spoken about this and he denied ever saying that, but the fact still stands that many people have told me the majority of CAP people believe that I was fired. This is why I am writing this.
There was a time in the Winter/Spring when I was talking to a friend of mine who does the orchestra contracting for Broadhollow. I told him I wasn't very happy with the quality of the sound system at CAP, the fact that when a few older ladies from my church choir came to see a show the person sitting next to them actually fell to the ground because her seat broke, the "bug" problem, and the overall lack of initiative to change these problems. I worked very hard all my life, practicing up to 8 hours a day to get to do some of the things I've done in my life. Although I enjoyed subbing for the Broadway productions of Flower Drum Song and Wicked, it wasn't what I wanted to do. I wanted to write music. But never knowing when I would be called to sub put a big damper on my schedule and I found it very difficult to do what I wanted to do. I decided to call the subbing quits and work at a local theatre. I was living in Dix Hills and I realized CAP was the closest theatre. However, when I began to see these problems, it became embarassing to be called the "musical superviser" of CAP. So, I spoke to my friend and he told me he was going to talk to Broadhollow about me. After a series of meetings, they offered me the job of resident music director. I then told Bruce about 3 days later in the privacy of his office. He told me he didn't think I would enjoy working there and would be sad to see me go, and to think about it a little longer. I did that, but in the end, I decided moving to Broadhollow was the best move. That's the story. Feel free to confirm the "meeting" between Bruce and I with either Tony or Jerry as they were outside when this meeting happened.
I will say to those of you who had problems with me that I am truly sorry for the 3 occasions where I acted completely unprofessionally and put everyone in a bad situation. Although I honestly feel that the facility I was working in and the lack of communication that goes on there, forced me to act this way and to "not care", I do take responsibility and I feel terrible for putting people in those positions. That sort of thing has never happened to me in the past, and it is something that will never happen in the future. I truly hope we can all move on from those incidents.
I hope this clears the misunderstandings up. I wish everyone the very best and I hope that I will see a lot of you at other shows on Long Island and in Manhattan.
Take care.
-Donny

Looking forward to the weekend

Feb. 3rd, 2006 | 04:30 pm

It's so great to do a show where everything from crew to cast to orchestra works so well together. Don't get me wrong, I love playing for shows and that's why I make this my profession. But doing 8-9 shows a year does get boring and tedious at times, and Saigon was exactly what I needed to give me that extra inspiration that was lacking. I'm completely looking forward to this weekend and Saigon is gonna kick ass. Everyone come to see it!!!!!!!
I wrote this in myspace also, but if any of you know Greg Germann (my favorite drummer EVER and the drummer for Saigon), please wish him luck because he is auditioning for Wicked's music director, Stephen Oremus, on Wednesday for the National Tour. This is HUGE and Greg is very excited.
Love/Peace ;)

good music

Feb. 1st, 2006 | 03:40 am

So tonight I decided to take advantage of a rare night off and I went into the city with greg and vinny. greg knew the drummer for avenue q who was playing in the village at the garage so we went there and heard an amazing big band which also included an old friend of mine, bruce item. bruce is going to be playing trombone for tarzan once it opens. THEN we went uptown to hear another band which included shawn pelty, the drummer for SNL and who also works with shakira, and other amazing musicians including a couple from conan o'brien's band. it's so great to see such amazing musicians just chilling and playing out at a bar or a restaurant and SO nice to hear such amazing music. i suggest anyone with a tuesday night free should go to the metropolitan cafe around 51st and 1st in the city. you won't be disappointed.
Anyway, it's almost 4am so i should probably get some sleep so i can spend such a big chunk of my day at cap tomorrow.
night and lots of love

You're a Freaky Kisser

When you kiss, you want to experience something new
A new technique, a new partner, a new piercing...
And your own personal kissing style is very unpredictable
There's no saying where your tongue or hands will go

i always knew i wasn't normal...

Your Rising Sign is Libra

A total charmer, it's hard for people to say no to you.

Irresistable and attractive, you have no shortage of love interests.

Totally competitive, you tend to thrive in stressful enviroments.

A peaceful soul, you avoid conflict at almost all costs.

Sometimes you try too hard to please those around you.

But you have a great inner strength that helps you bounce back easily.

Saigon Kicks Ass

Jan. 29th, 2006 | 06:28 pm

Wow... The Sunday Saigon show really impressed me today. The singers were right on and the band was right on. It feels so good when things stop feeling like beats and notes and more like a real story... and that, unfortunately, doesn't happen very often in Long Island theatre. To the cast, crew, and band... You guys really are amazing!
P.S. More people better leave comments soon! And please tell me who you are so I don't have to figure it out by reading multiple journal entries lol.
LATER!

Hi Everyone!

I didn't think I would ever do this, but I have decided it's time. The polar bear on my computer screen told me to do it. hahaha. I don't really know why I'm doing this... I guess it's because I feel left out of this entire other world. And we all know that I don't like to be left out of things. So this is it. I doubt I'll update this very much since all I do everyday of my life is play the piano, but just incase something exciting happens, I'll be sure to let all of you LJ people know! People better leave comments!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't do this for nothing!!!!!!!!!
